Accessibility Statement
Effective date: 28 July 2026
RidgeOak Property Maintenance is committed to making its website and services accessible to as many people as reasonably possible, including people with disabilities.
We aim to provide a website that can be used with different devices, browsers, screen sizes, keyboard controls, screen readers and other assistive technologies.
This statement applies to: ridgeoak.co.uk.
1. Our accessibility commitment
We aim to identify and remove barriers that may prevent disabled visitors from accessing information, requesting a quotation or communicating with RidgeOak.
We are working towards meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at Level AA where reasonably practicable.
WCAG guidance is based on making website content:
- Perceivable — information can be detected and understood.
- Operable — website controls can be used in different ways.
- Understandable — content and navigation are clear.
- Robust — content works with different technologies.
2. Accessibility features
We aim to support accessibility through features and design practices including:
- Clear headings and logically structured content.
- Readable text with sufficient spacing.
- Responsive layouts for desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
- Descriptive page titles and link text.
- Alternative text for meaningful images where appropriate.
- Keyboard-accessible navigation and controls where supported.
- Visible focus indicators for interactive elements.
- Labels and instructions for website forms.
- Error messages intended to explain how to correct form entries.
- Colour choices designed to provide readable contrast.
- Content that can normally be enlarged using browser controls.
- Avoidance of unnecessary flashing or rapidly moving content.
- Support for reduced-motion settings where possible.
3. Using the website
Most modern browsers allow you to change how website content is displayed.
You may be able to:
- Zoom in to enlarge text and images.
- Change the default text size.
- Use browser or operating-system contrast settings.
- Navigate using the keyboard instead of a mouse.
- Use speech recognition or screen-reading software.
- Disable animations or reduce motion.
Browser and assistive-technology functions vary depending on the device, software and settings being used.
4. Keyboard navigation
We aim to make links, buttons, forms and other interactive controls usable with a keyboard.
Common keyboard controls include:
- Tab to move forward between interactive elements.
- Shift + Tab to move backwards.
- Enter to activate links or buttons.
- Space to activate certain buttons or checkboxes.
- Arrow keys to move within some menus or controls.
- Escape to close certain menus or pop-ups.
5. Online quotation calculator
RidgeOak provides an online quotation calculator that allows users to select services, enter measurements, answer questions and request an estimated price.
We aim to make the calculator accessible by providing:
- Clear question headings and instructions.
- Labels for form fields and selection controls.
- Logical movement between sections.
- Readable price summaries.
- Layouts suitable for mobile and desktop screens.
- Keyboard-operable controls where technically supported.
- Error messages where required information is missing.
If you cannot use the online quotation calculator, you can request a quotation by telephone or email instead.

6. Forms and photo uploads
We aim to make website forms understandable and straightforward to complete.
Some functions, including file and photograph uploads, may depend on the browser, operating system, device or third-party website component being used.
If you cannot complete a form or upload a photograph, you may send the information by email or contact us by telephone.
You are not required to use the website upload facility where another reasonable communication method is suitable.
7. Alternative formats and communication methods
If you need information from this website in a different format, contact RidgeOak and explain what you require.
Depending on the request and what is reasonably practicable, we may be able to provide information:
- In a simplified email.
- In larger text.
- As a plain-text document.
- By telephone.
- Through another reasonable communication method.
We will consider accessibility requests individually and aim to provide a reasonable alternative.
8. Reasonable adjustments to our services
Accessibility is not limited to the website. RidgeOak will consider reasonable adjustments for disabled customers when arranging quotations, appointments and property-maintenance services.
Reasonable adjustments may include:
- Communicating by email instead of telephone, or vice versa.
- Allowing additional time to discuss a quotation.
- Providing written confirmation of agreed arrangements.
- Communicating with an authorised representative or carer.
- Considering suitable appointment arrangements.
- Explaining quotations or work requirements in clearer language.
Adjustments will depend on the customer’s needs, the work requested, safety requirements and what is reasonable in the circumstances.
9. Third-party content and services
Some website functions may rely on third-party services, plugins or embedded content, including:
- Maps.
- Social-media platforms.
- Cookie-consent tools.
- Website forms and file-upload tools.
- Payment or communication providers.
- External review platforms.
RidgeOak does not control the accessibility of every third-party website or service.
Where a third-party function creates a barrier, contact us and we will consider whether the same information or service can be provided by another reasonable method.
10. PDF files and downloadable documents
Some older or third-party PDF files and downloadable documents may not be fully accessible to every screen reader or assistive technology.
If you cannot access a document, contact us and request the relevant information in another reasonable format.
11. Videos and audio
Where RidgeOak publishes videos or audio content, we aim to provide captions, written descriptions or supporting text where reasonably practicable.
Some older, embedded or third-party media may not include complete captions, transcripts or audio descriptions.
Contact us if you require the information from a particular video or recording in another format.
12. Current accessibility status
This website has not yet undergone a complete independent WCAG 2.2 accessibility audit. We therefore do not claim that every page and function is fully compliant.
RidgeOak aims to improve accessibility as the website, quotation calculator and content are updated.
Accessibility can also be affected by WordPress themes, plugins, browser behaviour, third-party integrations and future website changes.
13. Known accessibility limitations
Some users may experience accessibility difficulties with:
- Parts of the interactive quotation calculator.
- Some third-party embedded content.
- Cookie-consent controls supplied by an external provider.
- Photograph and file-upload controls on certain devices.
- Older images that may have limited alternative descriptions.
- Some automatically generated WordPress or plugin elements.
- External websites linked from RidgeOak pages.
We will review reported problems and make reasonable improvements where practicable.
14. Reporting an accessibility problem
Contact us if you:
- Cannot access part of the website.
- Cannot use the quotation calculator.
- Cannot complete a form or upload a file.
- Find content difficult to read or understand.
- Need information in another format.
- Would like to suggest an accessibility improvement.

Please tell us:
- Which page or feature caused the problem.
- What you were trying to do.
- What device, browser or assistive technology you were using.
- The alternative format or adjustment you require.
15. How we handle accessibility reports
We will review accessibility reports and determine what action is reasonable and proportionate.
Depending on the issue, we may:
- Provide the requested information directly.
- Offer an alternative method of completing the task.
- Correct content, labels or links.
- Modify website styling or functionality.
- Contact a relevant plugin or service provider.
- Include the issue in future website-development work.
More complex technical changes may require investigation or assistance from a website developer or third-party provider.
16. Accessibility testing
Accessibility may be reviewed using a combination of:
- Manual keyboard checks.
- Browser zoom and responsive-layout checks.
- Automated accessibility testing tools.
- Colour-contrast checks.
- Form-label and heading-structure reviews.
- User feedback.
Automated testing alone cannot identify every accessibility barrier.
17. Compatibility
The RidgeOak website is intended to work with current versions of commonly used browsers and operating systems.
Accessibility and functionality may be reduced when using:
- Unsupported or significantly outdated browsers.
- Outdated operating systems.
- Browser extensions that alter website content.
- Devices with JavaScript or essential website functions disabled.
We will still consider an alternative communication method where the website cannot reasonably be used.
18. Legal framework
RidgeOak is a private-sector service provider rather than a public sector body.
The Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations do not generally apply to ordinary private-sector business websites. However, service providers have duties under the Equality Act 2010, including duties concerning reasonable adjustments for disabled people.
RidgeOak uses WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a recognised accessibility target and good-practice framework.
19. Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with how RidgeOak has responded to an accessibility request, contact us and explain:
- The barrier you experienced.
- The adjustment or response you requested.
- Why the response did not resolve the problem.
- What outcome you are seeking.
We will reconsider the matter and respond within a reasonable period.
