A Recent Property Repair Project in Hertfordshire

Property maintenance jobs are rarely limited to just one small issue. On a recent RidgeOak project, we were asked to take care of several areas around the property that needed attention, including damaged brickwork, deteriorated mortar, rendering and guttering.

Following an initial inspection, we discussed the required repairs with the homeowners and agreed on the work that needed to be completed.

Brickwork Repairs and Repointing

Part of the project involved repairing damaged sections of brickwork.

Damaged bricks were carefully removed and replaced where required, while areas of deteriorated mortar were raked out and repointed. The aim wasn’t simply to improve the appearance of the wall, but to leave the brickwork properly repaired and protected from further weather-related deterioration.

Where existing brickwork is being repaired, we always try to achieve a finish that works naturally with the surrounding property rather than making the repaired areas unnecessarily stand out.

Rendering Repairs

The project also included repairs to the rendered area around the front porch.

The area was prepared before the new render was applied and finished, giving the entrance a much cleaner and more consistent appearance.

Small areas of damaged render can sometimes be overlooked, but repairing them before deterioration spreads can prevent a relatively straightforward maintenance job from becoming a much larger repair later.

Guttering Repair

While carrying out the other work, we also repaired an issue with the property’s guttering.

Guttering plays an important role in directing rainwater away from walls and brickwork. Even relatively minor problems can eventually contribute to staining, damp areas and deterioration of mortar or external finishes.

Keeping the Property Tidy

We know that having building work carried out around your home can be disruptive, so keeping the working area clean and tidy is an important part of how we work.
